Barbara Cox was born in Lockport,
NY on May 23, 1953 to Nancy and Robert Neidlinger
of Newfane, New York. She attended Newfane schools
and in 1975 graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from
the NY university system. In her lifetime, she
became a talented artist. After attending college
Barbara joined the US Air Force and became a flight
simulator specialist. It was the Air Force that
brought her to New Hampshire.
She met her husband in Portsmouth, New Hampshire
and was married in 1979. Barbara, with her husband
and two children, called Windham, New Hampshire
home for close to three decades.
Barbara volunteered as a Brownie Leader, Girl
Scout Leader, and Girl Scout camp counselor. Barbara
also volunteered her time to the Windham school
system and soon became a teacher’s aid. Around
that time, computers were becoming a big part
of everyday life including the schools. Barbara
became the go-to person for computer help and
her skills often saved the day for teachers who
where busy with students. Before long, Barbara
was offered a job to maintain the computers in
the three Windham schools.
While involved in her husband’s rehabilitation
after surgery to remove his brain tumor, Barbara
herself was diagnosed with a glioblastoma. She
received her angel wings on November 6, 2006.
Barbara was an inspiration to young people
and adults alike. She was very much a leader.
Her unselfishness shone through with her willingness
to teach art and computer skills to anyone who
asked. She gave computer-training courses to schoolteachers
and met every week with a group of fellow artists.
Barbara left an impression on every person who
was lucky enough to know her. She filled the air
with her enthusiasm. There was nothing dull about
her. The world is a better place because of her.
She will be missed by all.
