T.H.E. BRAIN TRUST is pleased to serve as host of the
Annual Vigil of Healing, Remembrance and Advocacy
on Capitol Hill for Brain Tumor Awareness Week.

Date: Tuesday, May 1, 2007.
Time: Reading of the names of those so precious begins at 4:00 pm. Vigil Service started at 5:00 pm.
Where To Meet: Upper Senate Park near the "Hidden Under Our Hats" exhibit.
Guest Speaker: Samuel J. Hassenbusch, III, M.D., Ph.D. Neurosurgeon at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, diagnosed with glioblastoma on May 10, 2005.
VIP Reception: Our VIP reception followed the Vigil Service on Tuesday evening, May 1, 2007.

BRAIN TUMOR ACTION WEEK, MAY 1 - 7, 2006


Teresa Reese helped to organize the 2006 Brain Tumor Vigil on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. on May 1, 2006, during Brain Tumor Action Week.

Again we hosted the Vigil for Brain Tumor Survivors and Angels: A Service of Healing and Remembrance on Capitol Hill on Monday, May 1, in upper Senate Park near the "Hidden Under Our Hats" exhibit, organized by our friends at www.Btan.org. Those who could not attend in person could still participate in the Vigil remotely by sending in names of people who have been affected by brain tumors to: ribbons@braintrust.org. Include: 1) Name; 2) City, State; 3) date of dx; 4) tumor type if known, and; 5) # of years of survival. These names were read at the Vigil/Hats site. Also one coule request a copy of the Vigil to read at home.

2006 FBTA CONFERENCE IN TAMPA, JANUARY 27 & 28

ANNUAL APPEAL UPDATE


January 23, 2006: We ended our official "campaign" for donations on a great note.
After counting up all the online donations and the snail mail gifts, we hit a total of $29,350. This was outstanding.

Brain Tumor Symptom Study by Sherry Fox, RN, PhD CNRN

T.H.E. BRAIN TRUST collaborated with University of Virginia researcher, Sherry Fox, RN, PhD CNRN to recruit participants for a landmark study she is conducting about brain tumor symptoms. We looked for people who are living with tumors or who are living with the effects of such tumors. The form may be filled out with the assistance of a caregiver. We needed to locate 100 people with these tumor types by May 15th! View the study announcement at: www.braintrust.org/bt-study.htm.

Brain Tumor Action Week Vigil, May 2nd, 2005

T.H.E. BRAIN TRUST again hosted the Vigil for Brain Tumor Survivors and Angels on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC, on May 2nd, 2005, from 5pm to 6pm. "This service of healing honored all those who are diagnosed with a brain tumor at all stages of this difficult journey and also honored the dedication of caregivers, health professionals, and researchers. Annual Appeal

Our annual appeal is our main fundraiser each year. Donations from $5 to $500 have been deeply appreciated. Individuals and grantmakers are welcome to make larger contributions, which will be critical to helping us reach our goal. We are so grateful to each and every one of you!

FBTA Conference, January 2005

We celebrated January 21-23 at our favorite conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The 7th Biennial Florida Brain Tumor Association's "Sharing Hope: Tumor Talk" Conference was an interactive three-day conference for all whom are affected by a brain tumor, held at the beautiful Wyndham Ft.
