My Brother Skip

God gave this precious gift which is my brother Skip,
His Journey has been a hard one.
Has three beautiful children with his first one...
Sometimes things in life don't work out.
But because of his strength he is trying to make it without a doubt
Like being in a circle so very proud
Trying to get out is so profound
His mind wants to rush him into confusion,
but he must wait and be patient for a solution
So many burdens on his mind
Friends in this day of age are so very hard to find
So he struggles so he can remain sane.
Oh, don't forget he has a brand new white cane...
This is to help him get about,
which with love and guidance I have no doubt!!!
God, keep him on this earth for some time
There is so much more of him to give to mankind
Maybe he can't see to the left or right
But seeing through every sense is like having whole sight
He has been cut and scarred to survive
So what do we gain from what we derive?
To appreciate the one we love most
While their struggling so hard to cope
Take a good look in the mirror and thank God for what you have
We are all here for a short time
So, look at the things God has granted us
Keep that thought clearly in your mind
As for my brother Skip, I'll love you forever.

I don't see scars
I don't see a cane
I just see a man
I want to always see again...
I love you

T.H.E. BRAIN TRUST loves Skip. We have suffered a great loss of a dear friend and fellow volunteer.
He was one of the biggest "builders" of our community.

SKIP DOUGLAS was T.H.E. BRAIN TRUST's primary web developer from 1997-2000.
His increasing vision and memory problems made the task more difficult.
Skip often said that working on these web pages was "a reason to get up in the morning."
Even after reluctantly giving up responsibility for the whole site, Skip was always full of new ideas to make the site bigger and better.

With the help of those who love and remember him, we will continue to build sections of our site in his honor, particulary the area "Celebrating Life".

Just weeks before he died, Skip and Samantha were speaking about his maintaining this section for survivors, families, caregivers and professionals to submit poetry, art and other words and art about living with brain tumors and related conditions, and how we can celebrate life in spite of these challenges.

Follow this link if you would like to make a donation in Skip's Honor to continue his work.

The content of this page is from the original website he developed and maintained.
